| Description: The Dizzy series was a huge hit in Europe, especially on the Spectrum and C64. This is a collection of six of those games; Treasure Island Dizzy, Magicland Dizzy, Spellbound Dizzy, Dizzy Prince of the Yolk Folk, Fantastic Dizzy, and Crystal Kingdom Dizzy... That's Dizzy 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 respectively (The packaging never tells you what chronological order they go it, but that's it). Fantastic Dizzy seems to have received the most attention for this collection, having been redone in AGA with CD music and better CD32 controller support. The rest of the games seem to be just ports of the old Amiga 500 versions with single-button action. The older games (especially Treasure Island Dizzy) look noticably inferior, though the gameplay is largely the same for all of them. Regarding NTSC compatibility: Treasure Island Dizzy and Spellbound Dizzy play fine, Crystal Kingdom Dizzy works, but is extremely difficult due to screen cutoff, the other three will all lock up before you can start the game. Unfortunately, this means the best games on the collection require PAL. The startup files on the disc attempt to mount and run a program on a floppy disk named "DebugDisk:"... this might be a development hook or a means of patching bugs in the game. |  |
